How to change settings and disable commands
Server settings · Updated
OcelotBOT has a lot of commands, and you might not want every one of them in every channel of your server. Everything about how it behaves in your server is controlled with the /settings command.
Who can change settings
You need the Administrator permission, or the server's settings role if you have set one. If you're not allowed, OcelotBOT will tell you.
See the available settings
/settings list shows the settings available for a category, with their current values. Use the drop-down under the message to move between categories, like the general settings or the settings for individual commands.
Change a setting
Use /settings set with the setting you want to change and its new value. OcelotBOT suggests settings as you type in the setting option, so start typing to narrow the list down. The value suggestions depend on the setting:
- Settings that are on or off suggest Enable and Disable
- Role settings suggest your server's roles
- Channel settings suggest your channels
- Others take any text or number, depending on the setting
If you enter something the setting can't use, such as text for a number, OcelotBOT tells you what it needs instead.
Change the language
OcelotBOT has been translated into several languages. Run /settings languages to see which are available and how much of each is translated, then change the language setting to the one you want with /settings set.
Disable a command
To stop a command being used anywhere in your server, use /settings disablecommand and choose the command in targetcommand:
- /settings disablecommandtargetcommand8ball
Turn it back on with /settings enablecommand. Both suggest commands as you type.
To control who can use a command, or in which channels, use Discord's own tools instead. Open Server Settings, then Integrations, select OcelotBOT and choose Manage to set permissions for each command by role and channel.
Keep your server family friendly
Some commands are marked as unwholesome in the command list. A server can turn on a wholesome mode that blocks them, and the NSFW commands can be turned off completely. Look for these in /settings list.
Extra command sets
/settings packs lets you turn on additional sets of commands, such as the NSFW commands, which only work in age-restricted channels. After you save, give Discord a few minutes to refresh the command list.
Troubleshooting
If a command has vanished from the list when you type /, it may have been disabled with /settings disablecommand, or restricted in Integrations. See slash commands not showing up.
