How to play Spook

Spook is a game of tag that OcelotBOT runs in your server for the whole of October. One person at a time is spooked, and the only way to get rid of it is to spook somebody else. Whoever is still spooked when the month ends is the loser.

It only works in servers, not in direct messages.

Spook someone

When nobody in the server has been spooked yet, anyone can start the game by tagging another member of the channel:

• /spook taguser@Small P

The first time it's used in a server, OcelotBOT also posts an introduction explaining how the event works. You can show it again whenever you like with /spook intro.

Pass it on

Once someone is spooked, only they can spook the next person. If it's you, pick someone in the channel and run /spook tag again.

You can't spook yourself, OcelotBOT, other bots, anybody who is offline or anybody who has opted out. The person you spook has to be in the channel you use the command in.

If the spooked person goes quiet for 24 hours, OcelotBOT can pass the spook on to a random member of the channel for them, and it prefers people who are online.

See who is spooked

• /spook current tells you who is spooked right now and for how long.
• /spook leaderboard ranks servers by the number of spooks, and shows where yours is. Servers that have asked to stay anonymous are shown as "Anonymous Guild".

Secret roles

When you're spooked you may be sent a secret role in a direct message, with something to try and do during the event. Keep it secret, because other people in the server might be working against you. Only spooks inside that server count towards it, and you need to allow direct messages from OcelotBOT to receive one.

When does it start and end?

Spook runs from 1 October until the end of October. Before it starts, /spook shows a countdown instead. When the month is over it shows the results for your server, including who lost, the total number of spooks and who was spooked the most.

To count down to Halloween itself, run /halloween.

Opt out

If you don't want to take part, run /spook optout. It asks you to confirm first. If you were the one spooked when you opted out, OcelotBOT passes the spook on to someone else.

Not working?

• If you can't see /spook when you type /, read slash commands not showing up.
• If /spook current says nobody is spooked, the game hasn't started in your server yet. Start it with /spook tag.
