How to play trivia

OcelotBOT can ask your server a trivia question whenever you're bored. Everyone in the channel answers at the same time, and the people who get it right earn points. Questions come from the Open Trivia Database.

Start a game

Type /trivia play in a channel:

  Multiple Choice — you have 30 seconds to answer.

OcelotBOT posts a question with a button for each answer, or True and False for a true or false question. Everyone has 30 seconds to choose, and only you can see which answer you picked. You can change your answer until the time is up. Then OcelotBOT reveals the correct answer and who got it.

There can only be one question running in a channel at a time. A Play Again button appears under the results.

Pick a category

Add the category option to ask about a particular subject. Run /trivia category to see the list, pick one from the drop-down and OcelotBOT asks a question straight away. It also shows the number of each category, so next time you can use it directly:

Points and streaks

Points are awarded for each correct answer, from 1 point for an easy question up to 3 for a hard one. Answer correctly several times in a row to build a 🔥 streak, and OcelotBOT lets everyone know if you lose a long one.

Leaderboards

• /trivia leaderboard shows the top players across all of Discord.
• Add server:server to only see the players in your server.
• Choose a timescale of weekly, monthly or yearly to see who is winning right now rather than of all time.

Troubleshooting

OcelotBOT needs the Embed Links and Add Reactions permissions in the channel to run trivia. If you can't see /trivia when you type /, see slash commands not showing up.
