How to set a reminder

Reminders, polls and everyday tools · Updated

OcelotBOT can remind you about anything, from taking the pizza out of the oven to an event next month. Reminders are set with the /remind slash command, and there is no setup to do beyond adding OcelotBOT to your server.

Set a reminder

Use /remind set and fill in when you want to be reminded and what about:

The time can be how long to wait, like 30 minutes, 2 hours or 3 days, or a date such as on the 31st December. Your message can be up to 1000 characters long, and the reminder has to be at least a second in the future.

When the time comes OcelotBOT replies in the channel where you set the reminder and mentions you. If you have since left that channel (or the server), it sends the reminder to your direct messages instead.

Remind yourself about a message

You can also set a reminder straight from a message. Right-click the message (or long-press it on mobile), open Apps and choose Use in /remind. Type when you want to be reminded in the box that opens, and OcelotBOT will remind you later with a link back to that message.

Repeating reminders

To post a message on a schedule, use /remind recurring. You can describe the schedule in plain English with the time option, or use a cron expression in cron if you prefer.

Setting up a repeating reminder needs the Manage Channels permission, because it posts into the channel for everyone. OcelotBOT needs permission to send messages there. Use /remind list to find its id and /remind remove to stop it.
